Be an examiner for Pearson Assessments. Complete
the online Field Testing Application Form.
Testing for the OWLS-2, Written Expression and Reading Comprehension (WE/RC) is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2008.
Introduction
OWLS is a theoretically based, individually administered assessment of receptive and expressive language (both oral and written) for children and young adults. In early 2008, we will be doing an item tryout for the revised version of the Written Expression (WE) scale, as well as for the new Reading Comprehension (RC) scale.
Examiner Qualifications
Individual testing - For grades K through 2, testing must be conducted one-on-one by a licensed Speech–Language Pathologist, School or Clinical Psychologist, Educational Diagnostician, or Special Education Teacher/Director.
Group testing* - For grades 3 through 12, in addition to the professions listed above, classroom teachers will also have the opportunity to conduct group testing sessions with all the students in their class who return consent forms. Note: All students participating in a group testing session must be in the same grade.
*For grades 3 through 12, although group testing is preferred, we may allow some tests to be administered individually.
Administration
For grade K-2 individual administration, the visual stimulus for all test items must be presented on a computer. For group testing, the items will need to be projected onto a larger screen from the computer (e.g., using an LCD projector) or from transparencies on an overhead projector. Estimated total testing time is one hour (30 minutes for WE plus 30 minutes for RC).
Tryout Data Collection Sample
We will be testing normally developing children and young adults (those not receiving special education services) ages 5 through 21 years old from a variety of demographic backgrounds.
