DIAL-4 (Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning-4)
Be an examiner for Pearson Assessments. Complete
the online Field Testing Application Form.
Testing for this study is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2008.
Introduction
The DIAL-3 is undergoing revision. The DIAL is a screening test to assess motor, conceptual, and language behaviors demonstrated by young children. In addition, a Parent Questionnaire provides normative scores for the child’s self-help and social skills. We are field testing both the English and Spanish versions of the DIAL-4.
Site Coordinator Qualifications
Must have experience with administering assessments. Should hold at least an associate’s degree (preferably a bachelor’s degree) in education or a related field and have experience working with young children (e.g., day care teacher or worker, preschool teacher, etc.).
Examiner Qualifications
Should have at least an associate’s degree and experience working with young children. No experience with assessment is necessary.
Administration
The majority of cases will be collected using a stations approach. This will require four examiners be present—one for the play table and one at each of the three testing areas: Motor, Concepts, and Language. Estimated testing time at each station is approximately 15 minutes per child.
Tryout Data Collection Sample
We will be testing normally developing children (those not receiving special education services) ages 2 through 5 years old from a variety of demographic backgrounds. Our sample will require both English-speaking children and Spanish-speaking children.
